Dr. Elliott was born and raised in Zimbabwe, before moving to Scotland. Her undergraduate and master’s degrees in forensic anthropology and gross anatomy from the University of Dundee and University of Central Lancashire, respectively. She also holds a Ph.D. in human anatomy from the University of Otago in New Zealand. Following the completion of her Ph.D., Dr. Elliott joined the faculty at Ross University School of Medicine in the Commonwealth of Dominica. Six months into her time there, the university was hit by a category five hurricane and efforts were made to salvage the school, by teaching on a car ferry in St. Kitts, before moving the school to Tennessee, USA., and then finally to Barbados. Through this time, Dr. Elliott was expected to constantly adapt to new ways of teaching anatomy and in an ever-changing work environment. Recently, she joined the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School where she is focused on teaching gross anatomy and neuroscience to first- and second-year medical students.
