Logistics centre – location and its significance for the city

Modular The elements comprising a logistics centre are grouped according to their function, ownership structures, organization and management methods.
Scattered The elements comprising a logistics centre are spatially scattered, but they remain interdependent in terms of organizational structures.
Ownership Private The enterprise is initiated by the private sector which aims at gaining and maximising profits.
Public-private The enterprise is initiated by the public sector on a financial and administrative level. The logistics centre is used by private companies, which facilitate its business activities and development.
Types of handled goods Universal They handle various goods and services.
Industry-specific They handle specific groups of goods and services. Such limitations result from the concentration of manufacturing within a given area.
Specialist They handle particular types of goods exclusively, for example hazardous materials.
Transport availability Monotransportation Goods are moved by a particular means of transport; it allows, however, for the cooperation with other entities i.e. nearby ports
Intermodal Goods are moved by a few means of transport across the route, but with the use of a single freight unit.
