Development Of Mobile Learning Guidelines For Higher Education Institution Learners In Malaysia
Abstract
Most higher education institutions have now shifted from traditional teaching and learning sessions to virtual classrooms. These changes have had a significant impact on students in particular, with some countries already developing virtual learning procedures to be more effective. This closure has disrupted all academic activities, so this situation has increased awareness among the management of higher learning institutions (HEIs), lecturers, and ministries on the extent of active student involvement, especially in virtual classes. Therefore, this paper aims to develop M-learning guidelines based on the characteristics of HEI students that positively influence the acceptance of M-learning. This guideline is proposed to increase students' motivation to use their mobile devices as an alternative in teaching, learning, and training to ensure that students continue to interact with these academic tasks. Nevertheless, past studies have shown limited consideration of the characteristics of students that define acceptance as part of it. Therefore, M-learning guidelines based on the attributes of HEI students that positively influence the acceptance of M-learning are developed. Research findings show that such attributes and guidelines can promote an effective and engaging M-learning experience. It is recommended that guidelines be implemented in educational settings to provide maximum learning benefits. Significantly, the guidelines can be used to be referred to by practitioners of M-learning because it has been established that significant acceptance of M-learning may require collaboration between researchers and developers.
