Abstract

TikTok has emerged as a highly popular social media platform that has captured the attention of users across the globe, particularly among younger generations. It provides an avenue for users to craft and share short videos, establishing a unique form of creative expression. However, TikTok's significance extends beyond being a mere source of entertainment. It has become a catalyst for communication and connection, facilitating bonds between individuals and bridging generational gaps. This research aims (i) to identify the relationship between social relationships and the impact of TikTok on youth; (ii) to examine the relationship between educational tools and the impact of TikTok on youth and (iii) to analyse the relationship between marketing tools and the impact of TikTok on youth. The study collected data from 245 respondents at Universiti Malaya (UM) using questionnaires, employing a quantitative research method. The collected data was analysed using descriptive statistics and correlation analysis. Findings shown that i) there is the relationship between social relationships and the impact of TikTok on youth; (ii) there is the relationship between educational tools and the impact of TikTok on youth and (iii) there is the relationship between marketing tools and the impact of TikTok on youth.
