Reliability Of Tahfiz Teacher’s Competency Questionnaire In Implementing Hots: A Pilot Study
Abstract
The development of the research instrument to assess the level of knowledge, skills and attitudes of tahfiz teachers in implementing Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTs) for the subject of Hifz al-Quran is based on an in-depth literature review. There are three main constructs: knowledge, skills and attitudes of tahfiz teachers in the implementation of HOTs in schools. These constructs are represented by 33 question items measured using a 5-point Likert scale. A pilot study involving 31 tahfiz teachers from secondary schools in Negeri Sembilan utilizing the Tahfiz Integrated Curriculum (KBT) was conducted. The Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) version 30.0.0.0 was used to analyze the reliability of the pilot study data. The reliability of the instrument was measured using internal consistency reliability, as indicated by Cronbach’s Alpha coefficient values. The findings showed that the Cronbach’s Alpha coefficient values for all constructs, indicating high reliability. The Knowledge construct with 11 items scored α=0.933, the Skills construct with 12 items scored α=0.930 and the Attitude construct with 10 items scored α=0.858. The need to build this questionnaire derive from the aim to analyze the necessity of developing a module for teaching HOTs in Hifz al-Quran subject. The module will help address the specific needs of tahfiz teachers, equipping them with the required knowledge, skills and attitudes to overcome the challenges in implementing HOTs effectively in their teaching practices.
