It has been demonstrated within the literature that physical health, mental well-being and food security are important factors in ageing population. Drawing on the initiative by Comfort Aged Care Centre in Likas, Sabah, Malaysia, the study highlights the potential of integrating aquaponics farming in elderly care providers for the elderly to maintain their well- being as well as addressing the challenges of food security. By reviewing existing literature and conceptualizing the integration of aquaponics in elderly care centres this conceptual paper provides insights into its application and identifies avenues for future research. The findings from this review shed some light on solutions for improving the quality of life for older adults while showcasing aquaponics farming’s role in promoting environmental sustainability by analysing the intersection of sustainable agriculture practices and elderly care.
